AP BJP President Calls for Mandatory Hospital Acceptance of Senior Citizen Health Cards
In a significant development concerning healthcare accessibility for the elderly, Andhra Pradesh BJP president PVN Madhav has issued a strong appeal to the state government. He has urged authorities to implement immediate directives that would mandate all government and private hospitals across the state to accept senior citizen cards and Ayushman Vayo Vandana Cards without any exceptions.
Immediate Government Intervention Demanded
Releasing a formal statement on Wednesday, Madhav emphasized the critical need for prompt government intervention to protect the welfare and dignity of senior citizens. He highlighted that during the BJP's extensive "Janata Varadhi" outreach initiative, conducted under the slogan "Sarva Sparshi – Sarva Vyapti," party workers encountered numerous elderly individuals who expressed serious concerns about healthcare facilities refusing to honor their entitlement cards.
The BJP leader noted that this widespread non-acceptance of valid health cards is creating substantial inconvenience for senior citizens, many of whom depend entirely on these government schemes to access affordable medical treatment. He called for a permanent resolution through the establishment of strict guidelines that would require all healthcare institutions to recognize and process these essential cards without hesitation.
Societal Responsibility for Elderly Care
Madhav further elaborated that ensuring dignity, security, and accessible healthcare for the aging population represents a fundamental societal responsibility. He urged the state administration to respond quickly to this pressing issue, which affects thousands of vulnerable citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
In addition to addressing the card acceptance problem, the BJP president stressed the importance of strengthening the comprehensive AYUSH sector within the state. This sector encompasses traditional Indian medical systems including Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy.

With traditional Indian healthcare approaches gaining increasing recognition and acceptance worldwide, Madhav asserted that Andhra Pradesh must prioritize the development and integration of these systems.
