Union Minister Rammohan Naidu Showcases Andhra Pradesh's Decentralized Development Model
In a significant address at the Swarnandhra Pradesh conference, themed "Stability, Competitiveness, and Future-Ready Andhra Pradesh," Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu highlighted the state's robust growth strategy. Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Saturday, the event underscored Andhra Pradesh's commitment to showcasing its strength to the world through a decentralized approach to development.
Decentralization Driving Statewide Progress
Rammohan Naidu emphasized that Andhra Pradesh is undergoing a transformative phase, with decentralization at its core. This model ensures that development is not concentrated in urban hubs but spreads across regions, from Srikakulam to Anantapur. He noted that many Western nations have historically leveraged similar strategies, using advanced transportation systems to redirect economic growth. In Andhra Pradesh, the development of national highways, ports, and airports is propelling southern states further, fostering regional integration and competitiveness.
Infrastructure Expansion and Aviation Goals
The Union minister detailed ambitious plans in the aviation sector, aligning with the global drone revolution. Beyond establishing new airports, the state is actively upgrading its existing 14 airports. The objective is ambitious: to ensure every citizen has access to an airport within a two-hour travel radius. New constructions are underway to meet this goal, with ports also being developed along the coastline from Srikakulam to Nellore.
Rammohan Naidu announced a rapid pace of inaugurations, with plans to open an airport every 50 days. Looking ahead, he projected a need for 1,700 aircraft over the next 16 years, underscoring the state's preparedness for future aviation demands.
Transformative Projects in North Andhra
A key focus of the conference was the impending transformation of North Andhra. Rammohan Naidu highlighted major projects set to reshape the region, including:
- Development of Bhogapuram and Mulapeta Port
- Establishment of the Mittal Steel Plant

- Construction of branded hotels

Rammohan Naidu praised former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's vision for Swarnandhra 2047, noting that all favorable conditions are in place for its realization. He urged that Naidu's decisive steps toward this goal serve as an inspirational lesson for the current generation.
Under the leadership of Nara Lokesh, the IT sector is spearheading a shift in the state's development trajectory. Lokesh is advancing the "Speed of Doing Business" concept, combining efficiency with quality to attract international attention. This approach is positioning Andhra Pradesh as a competitive player on the global stage, with speed and innovation at the forefront of its economic strategy.
