Army Activates Counter-Drone Measures After Multiple Sightings in Jammu on Army Day
Army Activates Counter-Drone Measures After Jammu Sightings

Defence sources reported two drone sightings in the Jammu sector on Thursday. This marks the third such incident in recent days. The Indian Army immediately activated counter-unmanned aerial systems measures following these reports.

Army Day Focus on Modern Capabilities

The latest drone sightings occurred on Army Day. The Indian Army emphasized its commitment to future-ready capabilities and indigenous systems during celebrations. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi addressed the media after the Army Day parade in Jaipur.

General Dwivedi stated the Army is progressing with well-trained soldiers, modern equipment, and multi-domain operational capabilities. He highlighted technology's crucial role in enhancing combat readiness. The Army Chief referenced Operation Sindoor during his remarks.

"Operation Sindoor established a new normal," General Dwivedi explained. "It demonstrated our ability to respond with speed, coordination, and precision. The operation reflected a mature and confident force. We are capable of safeguarding national interests through measured, firm, and responsible action."

Recent Drone Activity Along the Border

This week's drone sightings follow similar incidents along the Line of Control and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources reported suspected Pakistani drones sighted for the second time within forty-eight hours on Tuesday. The sightings occurred in areas including Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts.

Authorities deployed counter-UAS measures and launched ground search operations across multiple locations. Army troops observed drone movement over Gania-Kalsian village in Rajouri district's Nowshera sector around 6:35 PM. Soldiers responded by opening fire with medium and light machine guns.

Another drone appeared over Khabbar village in Teryath area of Rajouri district. Officials also reported a drone-like object with blinking lights hovering over Chak Babral village in Samba district's Ramgarh sector. Similar activity occurred in Poonch district's Mankote sector.

Army Chief Issues Warning to Pakistan

The heightened border alert coincides with General Dwivedi's strong warning to Pakistan. The Army Chief addressed active terror camps across the Line of Control and International Border during his Army Day press conference.

"At least six terror camps remain active across the LoC," General Dwivedi stated. "Two additional camps operate across the International Border following Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. We will act decisively if any nefarious attempts are carried out."

The Army continues monitoring the situation closely along the Jammu and Kashmir border regions. Security forces maintain heightened vigilance following the series of drone incidents.
