Army Subedar Duped of Rs 52 Lakh in Land Fraud

Kanpur: A fraud case involving Rs 52 lakh has come to light against Army Subedar Pratap Singh Yadav, a resident of Godaha village in the Bindki area of Fatehpur. The case emerged after two separate land registries were allegedly carried out using forged Khatauni documents.

Complaint and Investigation

Based on the victim's complaint, Naubasta police registered a case against two accused and initiated an investigation. Subedar Pratap Singh Yadav, currently posted in Nashik, stated that he expressed his desire to purchase a plot to his acquaintance Ram Shankar, a resident of Oria village. Ram Shankar then introduced him to Pratap Singh, a resident of Lalpur, who was involved in the plotting business.

Details of the Fraud

It was alleged that both individuals showed him a 400 square yard plot in Budhpur Machhariya and quoted its price at Rs 44 lakh. After the deal was finalized, the sale deed was executed on August 28, 2019. The Subedar paid Rs 12 lakh via RTGS and Rs 32 lakh in cash.

On August 31, when he arrived to get the plot's boundary demarcated, he discovered that the plot belonged to someone else. Upon investigation, the Khatauni shown to him also turned out to be forged. When he demanded his money back, the accused gave him a different piece of land after taking some additional amount.

The victim alleged that during construction work on the second land, some people arrived and stopped the construction, claiming it to be their land. It was then that he realized he had been defrauded. The accused allegedly swindled a total of Rs 52 lakh from him by selling land through forged documents. When he demanded his money back, the accused began threatening him.

Police Response

Naubasta police station in-charge Bahadur Singh stated that a report was registered based on the written complaint and the matter was being investigated.
