Ballari Marks 135th Ambedkar Jayanti with Grand Celebrations and Major Education Initiative
The district of Ballari commemorated the 135th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar with a large-scale and vibrant celebration, attended by numerous dignitaries and officials. The event, held at the Municipal College grounds on Dr Rajkumar Road, was a collaborative effort organized by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, city corporation, and social welfare department.
MLA Announces Rs 10 Crore Library Project
In a significant announcement during the festivities, City MLA Nara Bharat Reddy revealed plans for the construction of a well-equipped library named after Dr BR Ambedkar, with an estimated budget of Rs 10 crore. Reddy emphasized that this initiative is designed to encourage higher education and inspire the youth of the region to pursue careers as IAS and IPS officers, engineers, and doctors. He stressed the urgent need to enhance educational awareness in Ballari to drive social progress and development.
Dignitaries Highlight Ambedkar's Legacy
The celebration featured addresses from key figures who underscored Dr Ambedkar's enduring contributions. Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation chairman Mundaragi Nagaraj, mayor P Gadeppa, and Deputy Commissioner K Nagendra Prasad spoke about Ambedkar's pivotal role in advancing equality, constitutional rights, and social justice in India. Their speeches reinforced the importance of upholding these values in contemporary society.
