A 23-year-old software engineer working at a private firm in Bengaluru has alleged that she was secretly recorded while bathing on the night of April 29. Following her complaint, the Mahadevapura police arrested her neighbor after discovering the objectionable video on his mobile phone.
Incident Details
According to the complaint filed by the woman, a resident of Garudacharpalya in Mahadevapura, the incident occurred between 9:30 PM and 9:40 PM. She stated that while she was bathing, she noticed an unidentified person recording her with a mobile phone. Alarmed, she screamed, after which the phone was quickly withdrawn from her sight.
The next day, she approached the Mahadevapura police and filed a formal complaint, expressing fear that the recorded video could be circulated or uploaded on social media platforms. The police promptly registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 77 (voyeurism) and 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
