The 5th battalion of the Bihar Regiment has a storied history that began on January 28, 1963. It was raised under the distinguished stewardship of Colonel Jarnail Sant Singh, who served as the Colonel of the regiment during its formative years. Shortly after its establishment, Lieutenant Colonel J S Ghariaya assumed command of the battalion on August 9, 1963, setting the stage for decades of dedicated service and leadership.

Over the past six decades, the battalion has earned a distinguished reputation for its exemplary service and unwavering professionalism.
