Chandigarh: The top brass of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including national president Nitin Nabin, Union home minister Amit Shah, and the party's national general secretary B L Santhosh, held a meeting late Friday evening with Punjab BJP leadership. The meeting took place in Delhi, where the party high command summoned Punjab state president Kewal Singh Dhillon and at least five former state chiefs of the party.
Meeting Discusses Poll Strategy
In the over-two-hour-long meeting, leaders discussed the poll strategy for the upcoming Punjab election. Discussions also centered on Nabin's upcoming maiden visit to the state.
After the meeting, Dhillon said over phone, "Discussions were held about Punjab politics in a very healthy atmosphere. We will be fighting on all the 117 seats in Punjab. The meeting was about party strategy for the upcoming Punjab elections and there was collective discussion on that."
Dhillon added that Nabin would visit Punjab from June 20 to 22.
Key Issues Highlighted
Another Punjab BJP functionary who attended the meeting said, "The meeting was held with upcoming state elections in mind and how BJP can position itself to highlight issues like unemployment, drug problem, corruption, etc. Discussions were also held regarding the timeframe of the campaign for the elections."

Apart from Dhillon and former state presidents Sunil Jakhar, Ashwani Sharma, Avinash Rai Khanna, Shwait Malik, and Manoranjan Kalia, other attendees included BJP national vice-president Saudan Singh, national parliamentary board member Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Union minister of state for railways and food processing industries Ravneet Singh Bittu, national general secretary Tarun Chugh (elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh), former Punjab minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha president and former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's daughter Jai Inder Kaur, and Punjab BJP general secretary Anil Sarin.
