Bhopal: The Bharatiya Janata Party's two Rajya Sabha candidates from Madhya Pradesh — party national general secretary Tarun Chugh and senior organisational leader Rajneesh Agrawal — submitted their nomination papers on Saturday in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal, ministers, and senior party functionaries. The ruling party displayed a strong show of organisational unity ahead of the biennial elections.
Nomination Process and Tributes
Before filing their nominations at the Assembly complex, the candidates, accompanied by senior leaders, visited the BJP state headquarters. They paid tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Syama Prasad Mookerjee. A large number of party workers from across the state were present during the filing process, reflecting the party's grassroots support.
Chugh's Commitment to Viksit Bharat
Reiterating his dedication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India, Chugh stated that the confidence shown by the party in an ordinary worker was both a matter of pride and a significant responsibility. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP national leadership for entrusting him with this responsibility. Chugh pledged to work with complete sincerity, honesty, and commitment for both the organisation and Madhya Pradesh.
Recalling his long association with the state as a former organisational expansion in-charge, Chugh noted that representing Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha was an honour. He emphasised that the BJP is a cadre-based organisation where dedication, hard work, and commitment to organisational values are always recognised.
Leaders' Remarks on Party Unity
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed confidence that both candidates would effectively raise Madhya Pradesh's interests in Parliament while contributing to parliamentary affairs and strengthening the party organisation. State BJP chief Hemant Khandelwal described the nominations as a reflection of the party's emphasis on grassroots workers and organisational commitment.
Party leaders repeatedly highlighted the BJP's worker-based culture, contrasting it with what they termed dynastic politics in opposition parties. The filing of nominations saw enthusiastic participation from party workers, many of whom viewed the selections as recognition for years of organisational work within the party.
