Bengaluru: BJP national president Nitin Nabin is set to make his maiden trip to Karnataka after assuming office, but the party has decided against holding a grand public reception or roadshow during the visit. The BJP leadership has instructed the state unit to keep the programme simple, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated appeals for fuel conservation and responsible use of petroleum products.
Plans Scaled Down
Party workers and leaders had initially planned a large welcome programme, but the central leadership reportedly stepped in and directed the Karnataka BJP unit to scale down the arrangements. This move underscores the party's commitment to Modi's call for reducing unnecessary fuel consumption.
Sunday Itinerary
On Sunday, Nabin is scheduled to attend a breakfast meeting at the residence of party veteran BS Yediyurappa. He will later offer prayers at the Kadu Malleshwara temple before proceeding to the state BJP office. He will preside over a state core committee meeting at 2pm.
In the evening, Nabin will preside over the valedictory of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya BJP Prashikshan Maha Abhiyan of Bengaluru North district at Ramada Resort in Yelahanka. The two-day workshop will see participation of Bengaluru North district BJP office-bearers.
Strategic Importance
The visit comes at a crucial time for Karnataka BJP amid discussions over organisational restructuring and preparations for the 2028 assembly polls. On Monday, senior state functionaries are expected to hold meetings with Nabin on leadership change and future political strategy in the state.
