The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch its election campaign in Punjab this month, with a series of high-profile visits by party leaders. According to top sources, BJP national president Nitin Nabin will make his maiden visit to the state in late June. He is expected to begin his tour in Amritsar, where he will pay respects at the Golden Temple and the Durgiana Mandir.
Union Ministers to Visit Punjab Ahead of Nabin
Prior to Nabin's visit, two senior Union ministers are scheduled to tour the state. Union Urban Affairs and Housing Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is likely to visit Amritsar on June 13. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal is also expected to arrive in Punjab within the next few days. Following these initial visits, the BJP plans to deploy several other senior ministers for its election outreach campaign.
BJP Punjab Chief Highlights Key Challenges
The plan follows meetings between BJP Punjab president Kewal Singh Dhillon and several Union ministers, during which he urged a proactive role by the central government in addressing what he termed as Punjab's multiple challenges. These include the drug issue, law and order problems, depleting water table, insecurity in the border belt, lack of economic avenues, and a fragile healthcare system.
The BJP's election campaign aims to connect with voters across the state and address these pressing issues. The party is expected to intensify its outreach in the coming weeks, with more leaders and ministers scheduled to visit Punjab.
