In the latest incident, BSF troops detected suspicious movement close to the border fence and challenged the intruder. Despite repeated warnings, the individual continued to advance, prompting the troops to open fire, resulting in the intruder's death on the spot. No incriminating material was recovered from his possession, leaving security agencies to probe the motive behind the intrusion.

Security officials believe that the rising number of smuggling attempts, drone sorties, and infiltration bids point to a broader design orchestrated by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to destabilize Punjab. Sources indicated that recent investigations have uncovered connections between gangsters, drug smugglers, and extortion rackets in Punjab operating with support from handlers based in Pakistan. Additionally, threats sent through emails to schools, government offices, and other institutions are suspected to be part of a psychological campaign aimed at spreading panic and diverting security resources.
