A bus stop shaped like a bus has become the newest attraction in Bandasale, Gurupur, Mangaluru. Residents and passersby are stopping to admire the unique structure, which was inaugurated on Sunday. The creatively designed bus shelter, built at a cost of around Rs 7 lakh, has transformed what was once a poorly maintained bus stop into a landmark that combines functionality with an eye-catching design.
Local Initiative Leads to Unique Design
The initiative was led by local resident Prashanth of V2 Guys Gurupur. He said the idea was to create something distinctive that would not only serve commuters but also instill a sense of pride among locals. Instead of constructing a conventional bus shelter, the team opted for a design resembling a stationary bus, making it both practical and visually appealing.
Enhanced Safety and Comfort Features
The new shelter is equipped with two CCTV cameras—one inside and one outside—to enhance the safety and security of commuters. It also features comfortable seating and a provision for drinking water.
Renewed Identity for the Area
Prashanth said that about three years ago, the earlier bus shelter at the location had fallen into disrepair due to a lack of maintenance. The new structure has given the site a fresh identity and has quickly become a talking point in the area. Since its inauguration, a steady stream of visitors has been arriving to photograph and experience the bus-shaped shelter, which many believe is one of the most distinctive bus stops in the region, Prashanth added.
Inauguration Ceremony
The bus shelter was inaugurated by Mangaluru City North MLA Bharath Shetty Y in the presence of Vajradehi Mutt seer Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji.
