The Union Cabinet on Wednesday passed a resolution honouring Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he became India's longest-serving prime minister. The resolution, moved by Home Minister Amit Shah, lauded Modi's leadership and his vision for a developed India.
PM Modi surpassed the record of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who served for 16 years and 286 days. Modi has been in office since May 26, 2014, completing over 17 years in power across two terms.
The cabinet resolution highlighted Modi's achievements in various sectors, including infrastructure, digital India, and social welfare schemes. It also praised his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and his efforts to boost India's global standing.
Speaking at the cabinet meeting, PM Modi thanked his colleagues and the people of India for their support. He emphasized that the honour is a reflection of the collective efforts of the government and the nation.
The resolution was passed unanimously, with all cabinet members expressing their admiration for Modi's tenure. The event marked a significant milestone in Indian political history, underscoring Modi's enduring popularity and political dominance.
