Belagavi: Captain Dattatray N Nawar, a distinguished veteran of the Maratha Light Infantry, passed away recently at his native village of Basurate in Belagavi taluk. He was 77 years old.

A Life of Service

Captain Nawar served the nation for 28 years with unwavering dedication. A proud participant in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, he fought valiantly in the historic Battle of Burj. Rising through the ranks to become an Honorary Captain, his service remains a testament to his courage and patriotism.

Final Farewell

His funeral was held with full military honours at Basurte in Belagavi taluk. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment, alongside tributes from fellow veterans. The Regiment honoured his selfless legacy and extended condolences to his family.
