Census 2027 House Listing in Gurgaon Only 55% Complete Ahead of May 31 Deadline
Census 2027: Gurgaon House Listing Only 55% Done Before Deadline

Gurgaon: With less than a week remaining until the May 31 deadline for completing the house listing phase of Census 2027, work in Gurgaon district has only reached the halfway mark. According to the latest figures, out of 4,835 total blocks, only 2,642 (55%) have been covered, while 2,193 blocks (45%) are still in progress.

Concerns Over Slow Urban Progress

Officials have expressed concern over the slow pace, particularly in urban zones where dense population clusters require more time but have not shown proportionate progress. In urban Gurgaon, Gurugram Zone 1 has recorded a 56% completion rate, Zones 2 and 3 around 48%, and Zone 4 only 39%. Additionally, about 42.4% of the Manesar Municipal Corporation has been covered.

Rural Areas Show Strong Performance

In contrast, rural units have demonstrated strong progress. Manesar Tehsil has completed 97.1% of its work. Similarly, Sohna Tehsil has achieved 87% completion, Pataudi Tehsil 80%, Farukh Nagar Tehsil 91%, and Farukh Nagar Municipal Committee 98%. Wazirabad Tehsil and Pataudi Mandi MC have both reached 100% completion.

Urgent Measures to Accelerate Work

Officials acknowledge that there is a very tight window to cover the remaining half of the district. Supervisors have been instructed to intensify field monitoring, deploy additional enumerators where required, and ensure daily reporting. District authorities are expected to conduct review meetings throughout the week to push for accelerated ground activity.

An official stated that many enumerators were delaying work due to fear of being assigned another block. “We have informed them that nobody will be given an additional block. This has helped them go faster,” the official said. The official also noted that many enumerators have completed the work but have yet to upload it. “Once the system is updated, it will reflect a much higher completion rate,” the official added.
