A shocking incident of murder has emerged from Chengalpet district in Tamil Nadu, where a 31-year-old man was brutally killed allegedly by the relatives of a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair. The victim, identified as M Vijay, a mason from Thamaraikeni village near Sunambedu, had his left leg hacked off before being gagged and force-fed pesticide. Police have arrested the woman's father, Devaraj (60), and her 17-year-old son in connection with the crime.
Details of the Incident
According to police, Vijay was in a relationship with a married woman from the same village. When the woman's family learned about the affair, her husband and father warned the duo and asked them to end it. However, the relationship continued unabated. Two days ago, Vijay went to the woman's house, where he was confronted and assaulted by her family members. In the brutal attack, Vijay's left leg was severed. The accused then gagged him, forced pesticide into his mouth, and dumped his body in a nearby bush in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Discovery of the Body
When Vijay did not return home that night, his relatives launched a search in various locations. On Thursday night, police received information about a man's body with a severed leg lying in a bush near the village. The body was sent to the Chengalpet Government Hospital for postmortem examination. Police registered a case and questioned seven members of the woman's family, including her husband and father. During the inquiry, investigators identified Devaraj and the 17-year-old son as the main accused. They were booked on charges of murder and arrested. Devaraj was remanded in judicial custody, while the juvenile was sent to an observation home.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are currently investigating whether other family members were also involved in the crime. The motive appears to be the family's disapproval of the extramarital relationship, which led to the fatal attack. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
