Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched a sharp attack on the Congress party on Monday. He accused the opposition of using artificial intelligence to spread false information about the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025.
AI-Generated Videos Allegedly Spread Misconceptions
Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Chouhan claimed he recently saw two Congress videos on social media platforms. He pointed out that neither video showed actual human beings. According to the minister, both videos were completely generated by artificial intelligence technology.
"Today, I saw two videos of the Congress on social media; there are no humans visible in either of them, they are AI generated," Chouhan stated clearly. He argued that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi are not strengthening their party's foundations. Instead, he claimed they are hollowing out those foundations by spreading what he called lies, misconceptions and misinformation.
Congress Letter Called "Full of Lies and Deceit"
The minister specifically targeted a two-page letter written by Kharge and Gandhi. This letter was addressed to Gram Pradhans, former Gram Pradhans, Rojgar Sevaks and MGNREGA workers across the country. Chouhan described the document issued by the All India Congress Committee as "full of lies and deceit."
He alleged that the Congress leaders are attempting to mislead the entire nation through false propaganda. Their campaign focuses on creating misconceptions about the actual provisions contained within the G RAM G Act, according to the minister's statements.
Historical Contrast and Poverty Alleviation Claims
Chouhan contrasted the current Congress approach with the party's historical positions. He reminded everyone that Congress gave the famous "Garibi Hatao" slogan back in 1971. However, he claimed the party has since pushed poor people to the margins of society.
The minister presented statistics to support his government's achievements. He stated that under the NDA government, more than 25 crore people have been lifted above the poverty line. Regarding MGNREGA assets, Chouhan mentioned that 10 crore assets have been created overall. Out of these, approximately 8.5 crore assets were created specifically under the NDA government's tenure.
Funding Concerns Addressed
Responding to questions about potential funding shortages, Chouhan drew from his extensive administrative experience. Journalists had asked whether the 60:40 funding ratio under the VB-G RAM G Act might leave states without sufficient money for employment programs.
"I have been the Chief Minister of a state for almost four terms. We never faced a shortage of funds," the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister asserted confidently. He emphasized that there is no shortage of money for other schemes, particularly when states are receiving increased funds under this specific VB-G RAM G scheme.
Congress Protest Call and Political Context
Chouhan's remarks came just one day after Congress released their controversial letter. In that document, Kharge and Gandhi urged people to join their party's "MGNREGA Bachao Sangram" protest movement. This protest specifically targets the VB-G RAM G Act which recently replaced the older MGNREGA legislation.
The minister criticized what he called the Congress party's abandonment of its core principles. "The Congress has abandoned its ideas, ideology, and ideals," Chouhan declared during his press conference. He positioned the current controversy within broader political narratives about development and truth in public discourse.
This exchange highlights growing tensions between the ruling party and opposition regarding rural employment policies. The use of artificial intelligence in political communication has become a new flashpoint in these ongoing debates about governance and public information.
