A club cricketer and a restaurant businessman from Maharashtra lost their lives, while two others sustained injuries, after their sports utility vehicle met with a tragic accident on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Madhya Pradesh's Barwani district on Monday, as confirmed by the local police.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Aniket Kale (28) and Badrinath Nangre (30), both residents of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, formerly known as Aurangabad, in Maharashtra. According to police officials, Kale was a prominent figure in the club cricket circuit of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, while Nangre owned a restaurant and bar establishment in the same city.
Accident Details
Sendhwa Rural police station in-charge OP Singh Chaungde provided details of the incident, stating that the accident occurred near Jamli village when the driver of the SUV allegedly dozed off at the wheel. This caused the speeding vehicle to lose control, jump the divider, cross onto the opposite carriageway, flip three to four times, and eventually collide with an oncoming truck. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in the immediate deaths of Kale and Nangre.
The injured individuals have been identified as Bhushan (25) of Pune and Omkar (26) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. They were promptly admitted to a private hospital in Sendhwa, where their condition has been reported as stable. Bhushan is engaged in the mineral water business, while Omkar operates a medical store.
Road Trip to Leh-Ladakh
Police investigations revealed that the victims were close friends and had embarked on a road trip to Leh-Ladakh. Prior to the accident, they had visited several religious sites in Madhya Pradesh and other parts of the country. The group was reportedly in high spirits, enjoying their journey before the unfortunate incident occurred.
The families of the deceased and the injured have been informed about the accident. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway as authorities work to piece together the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash.
