Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday visited the residence of senior police officer Amitabh Yash to pay his last respects to the officer's father, Ram Yash Singh, who passed away earlier in the day at the age of 83.
The Chief Minister offered floral tributes to the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. He spent time with the family members, sharing their grief and recalling the late officer's distinguished career in public service.
A former IPS officer of the Bihar cadre, Ram Yash Singh was widely respected for his discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty. During his tenure, he served in various districts including East Champaran, West Champaran, Jehanabad, and Godda (now in Jharkhand), making significant contributions to maintaining law and order. He was awarded the prestigious President's Police Medal for Gallantry for his exemplary courage.
After retiring as Deputy Inspector General (Intelligence) in Bihar Police, he continued serving society as an advocate at the Patna High Court. On Monday, he suffered a cardiac arrest.
He is survived by his wife, Geeta Singh, and son Amitabh Yash.
