Congress MLA Carlos Ferreira Demands NSA for Those Hurting Religious Sentiments
Congress MLA Demands NSA for Religious Sentiment Hurt

Panaji: Congress MLA and former assistant solicitor general of India, Carlos Ferreira, on Monday stated that anyone who hurts religious sentiments should face detention under the National Security Act (NSA). He emphasized that strict action is necessary to maintain peace, harmony, public order, and national security.

Strict Action Against Insults to Deities

Ferreira said, 'I condemn anybody insulting any god or religion. I will say put them (those who posted insulting comments against Hindu deities) behind bars. People should respect every religion. I believe that police will arrest the person (who posted insulting comments on social media against Hindu deities). They have arrested one person, now arrest the other also.'

Protecting Goa's Culture

He further stated that a concerted attempt is being made to spread poison and destroy Goa's culture, and such attempts cannot be allowed. Ferreira noted, 'Supreme Court has said that those spreading communal hatred, police should file a complaint suo motu against them as soon as they find the incident.'

Complaint Against YouTuber

Ferreira made these remarks after filing a fresh police complaint against YouTuber Gautam Khattar, in connection with a video that Khattar posted in October last year. The Congress MLA also asserted that strict action needs to be taken, irrespective of the religion or community of the perpetrator.

False Information Online

Ferreira has alleged that wrong information is being shared online about a 16th-century black basalt pillory in Old Goa, which has been officially notified as Haath Katro Khamb.
