The focus of their criticism was the alarming increase in debt burden plaguing the agricultural community in the state.

Lok Sabha MP from Sirsa and former Union minister Kumari Selja presented damning official statistics to substantiate her claims. She revealed that according to data provided in Parliament by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and a written reply submitted in the Haryana assembly by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the situation has reached critical proportions.
As of September 30, 2025, a staggering Rs 60,816 crore was outstanding against 25,67,467 farmers across Haryana. This translates to an average debt of over Rs 1.83 lakh per farming family in the state, painting a grim picture of agricultural distress under the current political leadership.
Double-Engine Governance Failing Farmers, Claims Surjewala
Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala joined the criticism, asserting that the BJP's much-touted "double-engine" governance model has spectacularly failed Haryana's agricultural sector. He outlined multiple systemic failures that have contributed to the deepening crisis.
