Congress has launched a scathing attack on the BJP and RSS over allegations of misappropriation of funds collected for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Party leaders termed it a 'betrayal of faith' and demanded an independent investigation supervised by the Supreme Court.
Congress demands Supreme Court-monitored probe
Reiterating the party's stance, Congress spokesperson Shemin Joy stated that the alleged financial irregularities must be thoroughly investigated. 'We demand a forensic audit, fixation of accountability, and strict action against the guilty. The faith of millions of devotees has been betrayed,' Joy said on July 12, 2026.
Allegations of fund misappropriation
The controversy erupted after reports suggested that a significant portion of donations collected from devotees across the country was not accounted for. The Congress has accused the ruling BJP and the RSS of using the temple fund for other purposes, including political activities.
BJP-RSS reject allegations
The BJP and RSS have denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegations baseless and politically motivated. However, Congress insists on a transparent probe to restore public confidence. 'The sanctity of the temple fund must be preserved. We cannot allow any compromise on this,' Joy added.
