Congress Slams Centre Over LPG Price Hike, Calls It Cruel Blow

The Chandigarh Congress on Sunday criticized the BJP-led central government over the recent increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices, describing it as a "cruel and unbearable blow" to ordinary households. In a statement, Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky stated that the Rs 29 hike would further strain families already grappling with rising expenses. "The increase in the price of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 29 is yet another cruel and unbearable blow to the common people of the country," he remarked.

Broken Promises on Inflation

Lucky targeted the central government, alleging that promises made during elections to control inflation and provide relief within 100 days had not been fulfilled. "The BJP government, which made tall promises, is now determined to shatter the household budgets of millions of families," he said. He further claimed that under the current administration, inflation has effectively become a "permanent policy," asserting that instead of offering relief, the government continues to raise prices to increase revenues.

Impact on Household Budgets

The Congress leader emphasized that the price hike would disproportionately affect lower and middle-income families, who are already struggling with the rising cost of essential commodities. He called on the government to roll back the increase and take concrete steps to curb inflation.
