In a scene straight out of a Bollywood drama, a remote village in Chhattisgarh's Durg district witnessed emotional turmoil of unprecedented proportions when a man believed to be dead returned to his family, revealing they had buried a complete stranger.
The Tragic Mistake
The extraordinary sequence began when 22-year-old Ramesh Kumar Sahu left his home in Kherkheda village for a wedding in neighboring Dhamtari district. When he failed to return, his family grew increasingly anxious and began searching for him.
Their worst fears seemed confirmed when authorities informed them about an unidentified body found on railway tracks in Dhamtari. The body bore some resemblance to Ramesh, and given the timing and location, the family identified it as their missing son.
The Heartbreaking Farewell
With heavy hearts, the family performed the last rites and buried the body they believed was Ramesh. The entire village mourned with them, sharing in their grief over the loss of the young man.
"We were completely shattered," said a family member. "The pain of losing Ramesh was unbearable. We performed all the rituals thinking we were bidding farewell to our beloved son."
