NEW DELHI: With US Secretary of State Marco Rubio all set to visit India this month, Ambassador Sergio Gor said Wednesday he is looking forward to welcoming his 'good friend' to India.
Strengthening Ties
Rubio said the United States deeply values its growing partnership with India and is excited to build even stronger ties that will benefit both nations and the world.
Visit Details
Rubio is likely to arrive in Delhi on May 24 for a two-day visit. Apart from a bilateral meeting with his counterpart S Jaishankar, he is also expected to participate in a meeting of the Quad foreign ministers. This will be his first visit to India since assuming office last year.
Investment and Cooperation
Gor said on X that under President Trump's leadership, investment is flowing back to the US at record levels, and Indian firms plan to invest $20.5 billion in tech, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals among other sectors. This includes 12 Indian firms that announced $1.1 billion in investments on Wednesday. These partnerships are creating American jobs and building stronger supply chains, he added.
