Tragedy Strikes Delhi Family as Pharmacy Owner Dies in Blast
A devastating explosion in Delhi has claimed the life of 33-year-old Amar Kataria, co-owner of a pharmacy in Bhagirath Palace, leaving his family shattered and struggling to comprehend their sudden loss. The incident occurred on Monday evening, turning what was supposed to be a family dinner celebration into an unimaginable tragedy.
The Fateful Call That Changed Everything
Around 6:45 PM on Monday, Amar Kataria called his father Jagdish Kataria from his pharmacy. The family, residents of Sriniwaspuri in south Delhi, had planned to go out for dinner together later that evening. Jagdish, who runs a tailoring shop in Mayur Vihar, had taken the day off work, while Amar was finishing up at the pharmacy.
"They could not connect on the call," explained a family member. When Jagdish tried calling back minutes later, a woman answered Amar's phone, informing him that she had found the device in the blast remains. Panic set in immediately as the family began frantically searching for answers.
The Heartbreaking Hospital Vigil
The Kataria family rushed to Red Fort area before learning that Amar had been taken to LNJP Hospital. They spent agonizing hours waiting for information, only to discover that Amar had suffered severe head injuries in the explosion.
The final confirmation of his death came through a heartbreaking identification method - a tattoo on his body that read "Mom my first love, dad my strength." This permanent tribute to his parents became the means by which authorities identified him among the victims.
Jagdish Kataria, who performed his son's last rites on Tuesday morning, shared his profound grief with family members. "My grandson just turned three in September," he said, his voice trembling. "My daughter-in-law Kriti is trying to hold herself together, but she doesn't know how she will raise her son without his father."
A Life Cut Short Days Before Birthday
The Kataria family, originally from Haryana, had established their lives in Delhi, where Amar and his sister had lived their entire lives. The tragedy comes at a particularly cruel time - the family had been eagerly preparing to celebrate Amar's 34th birthday on December 17.
Instead of birthday celebrations, the family now faces the overwhelming task of coping with their immeasurable loss. Relatives gathered at the Kataria home in Sriniwaspuri, hugging and consoling the grieving father who sat trembling outside his house, surrounded by loved ones but feeling the absence of his son most acutely.
The community has rallied around the Kataria family, offering support as they navigate this devastating chapter. Amar leaves behind his wife Kriti, their three-year-old son, and heartbroken parents who must now find a way forward without the son they cherished.
