The Delhi Congress on Friday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary and urged residents to plant saplings to honor his memory. Party leaders and workers gathered at the Delhi Congress headquarters to offer floral tributes and remember his contributions to the nation.
Event Highlights
Delhi Congress President Anil Kumar led the tribute, highlighting Rajiv Gandhi's vision for a modern India. He recalled Gandhi's emphasis on technology, youth empowerment, and national unity. The event saw participation from senior party leaders, including former MPs and MLAs, who shared anecdotes about his leadership.
Call for Environmental Action
As part of the tribute, the Delhi Congress launched a tree plantation drive, encouraging residents to plant saplings in their neighborhoods. Kumar said, "Rajiv Gandhi always believed in sustainable development. Planting trees is a fitting way to remember his legacy and contribute to a greener future." The party distributed saplings among attendees and urged them to spread the message.
The event concluded with a two-minute silence in memory of the former Prime Minister, who was assassinated in 1991. The Delhi Congress also announced plans to organize similar plantation drives in all 70 assembly constituencies in the coming weeks.
