A devastating fire in Delhi's Vivek Vihar area has claimed nine lives, with initial reports pointing to a possible short circuit or an air conditioner blast as the cause. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, sending shockwaves through the residential neighborhood.
BJP President's Statement
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, who visited the site, stated that the fire may have originated from a fault in an air conditioning unit. Speaking to the media, he said, "This is a tragic incident. Nine people have lost their lives, while 20 to 22 others were rescued. The exact cause will be determined after a thorough investigation."
Rescue Operations
Fire tenders and rescue teams rushed to the spot and managed to save over 20 individuals. However, nine people, including women and children, could not be saved. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have launched a detailed probe to ascertain whether the fire was caused by a short circuit or an AC blast. Forensic teams are collecting evidence from the site. Residents have demanded stricter safety measures in residential buildings to prevent such tragedies.
The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety in urban areas, especially during the summer months when electrical loads peak.
