This led Sharma to speculate, "It seemed as if Mansi had tried to shield her mother from the blaze," suggesting her ultimate act was an attempt to save her mum.

Police have recovered CCTV footage indicating the fire originated on a lower level and quickly spread upward. Eyewitnesses detailed the rescue sequence as the inferno engulfed the Kashyaps' shop and adjacent living quarters. Sachin was the first to be spotted by rescuers, escaping with burns and calling for help. He was followed by Deepika, who was brought out safely.
In a desperate bid, Anil was seen throwing Mitali out of the structure before jumping to safety himself. Others rescued included Pravesh, Kamal, Ashu, and three girls—Niharika, Ivani, and Jessica—who were extracted one after another. However, by the time firefighters reached the second floor, the blaze had consumed the building, leaving Himanshi and Lado Devi as the last to be found.
