New Delhi: The Delhi government is organizing a pilgrimage for approximately 1,300 devotees to the Somnath Temple in Gujarat to commemorate 1,000 years of faith in the shrine.
Chief Minister Announces Initiative
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the initiative, titled Somnath Swabhiman Parv-Somnath Yatra, is dedicated to marking a millennium of what she described as "eternal faith" among devotees. The announcement was made via a post on X, highlighting the significance of the event.
Train Departure and Arrangements
A special train carrying the pilgrims will depart from Safdarjung railway station on April 30 and is scheduled to reach Somnath the following morning. Gupta confirmed that the Gujarat government will make arrangements for accommodation, food, drinking water, and other facilities for the devotees.
This pilgrimage aims to strengthen the spiritual connection of devotees with the historic Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The initiative reflects the cultural and religious heritage of the region.
