Dharwad Honors Dr. BR Ambedkar with Grand 135th Birth Anniversary Celebrations
The 135th birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar was commemorated with immense grandeur and reverence in Dharwad on Tuesday. The district administration, zilla panchayat, and social welfare department collaborated to organize a series of vibrant events, drawing widespread participation from officials and the public alike.
Grand Procession Flags Off Celebrations
The festivities commenced with a majestic procession featuring a portrait of Dr. Ambedkar. Labour Minister and Dharwad District In-charge Santosh Lad, alongside Deputy Commissioner Snehal R, officially flagged off the procession from the deputy commissioner's office premises in the morning. This marked a significant start to the day's tributes, symbolizing the community's deep respect for Ambedkar's contributions.
The procession traversed through key landmarks of Dharwad, including Court Circle, Sangam Circle, Madarmaddi, Bhoosappa Chowk, Medar Oni, and KCC Bank, before concluding at the Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha hall. The route was carefully chosen to maximize public engagement and visibility, allowing residents to join in the homage.

Adding color and energy to the event, various cultural troupes performed traditional acts such as folk dances, Karadi Majalu, Nandikolu, and Jaggalige Mela.
