Born on October 3, 1931, in Kawatha village, Omerga taluka, Dharashiv district, Dr. Patil completed his MBBS and later specialized in medical education at Osmania University in Hyderabad. He practiced as a paediatrician in Latur for several decades, earning widespread goodwill for providing free medical services in the Murud region for an impressive 12 years.

Educational Contributions and the Latur Pattern

Dr. Patil served as the head of Shiv Chhatrapati Shikshan Sanstha, which operates Rajarshi Shahu Mahavidyalaya. This institution is famous for pioneering the 'Latur Pattern,' a coaching method designed for Standard XII students that has gained national acclaim for its effectiveness in academic excellence.

Political Journey and Parliamentary Service

Venturing into politics, Dr. Patil contested the Lok Sabha elections twice from Latur on a BJP ticket, losing by narrow margins. He was later nominated to the Rajya Sabha, serving as a member of the Upper House from 1994 to 2000. During his tenure, he contributed to key committees, including:
