Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Honors Late Major Hemant Jakate's Lifelong Service in Nagpur
In a heartfelt tribute at a memorial service held on Saturday at an auditorium on Wardha Road in Nagpur, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari commemorated the life and legacy of the late Major Hemant Jakate. Gadkari emphasized that Jakate dedicated his entire existence to the service of the nation and society, maintaining his commitment to social causes even after retiring from the Army.
A Life Rooted in Social Responsibility and Commitment
Gadkari remarked, "He lived a life rooted in social responsibility, sensitivity and commitment, and remained devoted to serving society till his last breath." The minister highlighted that Jakate's life was not driven by the pursuit of recognition or status but by a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference. "He worked selflessly, without expecting fame or position. True tribute to him would be to draw inspiration from his life and create more individuals committed to such values," Gadkari added, urging others to emulate Jakate's exemplary conduct.
Personal Connections and Philanthropic Contributions
Reflecting on personal ties, Gadkari shared that Jakate and his wife Sulabha shared a close bond with his family, maintaining regular contact with his mother. In a significant act of philanthropy, the couple donated 7.5 lakh to a diagnostic centre established in Gadkari's mother's name, aimed at providing services to underprivileged patients. This gesture underscored their deep-seated commitment to healthcare accessibility and social welfare.
