Governor exhorts women to develop self-confidence, scale new heights

Patna: Governor Syed Ata Hasnain on Monday exhorted women to develop self-confidence and contribute meaningfully to the all-round development of the country. Speaking as the chief guest at the annual function of Magadh Mahila College (MMC), a constituent unit of Patna University (PU), he emphasized that women must have faith in themselves and strive to scale newer heights in relatively ‘untouched’ fields.

Women excelling in diverse fields

Hasnain pointed out that today women are excelling in politics, administration, science and technology, and industry. He eulogized the performance of women in the Army, noting that in border areas, women officers perform their duties on a par with their male counterparts. He also lauded the all-women Navikaka Sagar Parikrama mission launched by the Indian Navy, stating that he has always advocated for increased participation of women in national defence services.

Encouraging academic and co-curricular excellence

Congratulating college girls who received gold medals and prizes for outstanding performances in academics and other co-curricular activities, the governor said they should not limit their aspirations. With sustained efforts and a disciplined life, they can become Prime Minister or win the Nobel Prize, he added. He released a college journal and gave away prizes to girls who secured first rank in university examinations.
