A 17-year-old Class 12 student tragically took her own life on Wednesday at her residence in Khoh village, Gurgaon, following alleged harassment in a suspected relationship. The teenager left behind a two-page suicide note in which she expressed her deep affection for a young man and clarified that she never harbored negative feelings toward him. She stated that her feelings were genuine but were doubted by the youth.
Details of the Suicide Note
In her note, the victim apologized 17 times, expressing confusion about how to handle being continuously questioned and looked down upon by the youth, whom she had known for a year, as well as by others. She wrote that she felt misunderstood and did not want to face further disrespect. The note also recounted an incident where she was allegedly harassed and abused at her tuition class by a friend.
Addressing the youth directly, she wrote, “You know what you did or said to me on my birthday, which made me feel worse.” The birthday reference remains unclear.
Incident Timeline
At the time of the incident, no one was home. When the family returned, they discovered the student’s body hanging in her room. The family immediately informed the police, who arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. The suicide note was recovered from her belongings.
Police Investigation
Police have initiated an investigation, considering all facts. They have contacted the boy mentioned in the suicide note and retrieved his chats with friends regarding the victim. The deceased’s family originally hails from Rohtas district in Bihar. Her father runs a ration shop, and her mother is a teacher at a private school. She is also survived by an elder brother.
According to the father, no one was at home when he returned around 1:30 pm for lunch. He found his daughter hanging in her room. The father has accused the youth of harassing his daughter. Police are investigating the case.
