Ambala: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday stated that the Shaheed Smarak (Martyrs' Memorial), dedicated to the first war of independence of 1857 and currently under development in Ambala Cantonment, will emerge as a landmark symbol of patriotism, valour, and sacrifice.
CM Inspects Under-Construction Memorial
Inspecting the memorial, which is in its final stages of completion, the Chief Minister said that the structure would not only preserve the country's historical heritage but also inspire future generations, particularly the youth, with the ideals of nationalism and sacrifice. Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij, senior government officers, historians, design experts, and officials from concerned departments were also present during the inspection.

"Haryana has always been a land of brave warriors and martyrs, and the state government is committed to preserving the legacy of freedom fighters and national heroes," the CM remarked. He added that the memorial would present a blend of historical facts, grand architecture, and modern technology, making it a major attraction for tourists.
Calling the project a "national centre of patriotic consciousness," CM Saini said that the memorial would play an important role in keeping the spirit of nationalism alive. The CM also appreciated the efforts of Minister Anil Vij in conceptualising and executing the ambitious project, noting that his personal interest and guidance had helped shape the memorial into a grand historic structure.
The Shaheed Smarak is expected to become a significant landmark, drawing visitors from across the country and serving as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the 1857 uprising. The project reflects the state government's dedication to honouring India's freedom fighters and promoting patriotic values among the masses.
