A devastating fire broke out on Tuesday night in Tembhurni village, located in the Madha tehsil of Solapur district, completely destroying six shops selling electrical items, hardware, and furniture. The incident occurred on Karmala road, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Cause and Spread of the Fire
According to police officials, the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit. Smoke was first noticed emanating from one of the shops at around 7 PM. However, within an hour, the flames rapidly spread and engulfed the neighboring establishments. The blaze caused extensive damage to all six shops, with the exact financial loss yet to be estimated.
Emergency Response and Containment
Fire tenders from nearby sugar mills in the MIDC areas were immediately summoned to the scene to combat the fire. The firefighting efforts continued for several hours, and the blaze was finally doused by midnight. The prompt response helped prevent the fire from spreading to other structures in the vicinity.
Local MLA Arranges Support
Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Abhijeet Patil rushed to the spot upon learning of the incident. He coordinated the arrangement of water tankers and additional fire tenders to aid in the firefighting operations. His timely intervention ensured that adequate resources were available to control the fire.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident, and further details regarding the exact cause and the extent of damage are awaited.
