Haryana Minister Compares CJP to Cockroach, Advises Name Change
Haryana Minister Compares CJP to Cockroach

In a fresh political controversy, Haryana minister Anil Vij on Wednesday compared the Congress-JJP (CJP) coalition to a cockroach, describing it as a 'dirty insect' that can be 'crushed easily'. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader also advised the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) to change its name to avoid association with the Congress.

Vij's Controversial Statement

Speaking to reporters in Ambala, Vij said, 'The CJP is like a cockroach, a dirty insect that can be crushed easily. I would advise the JJP to change its name because it has aligned with the Congress, which is a party with a history of corruption and misrule.' The minister's remarks came amid ongoing political tensions in Haryana, where the BJP is in power and the JJP is an alliance partner of the Congress in some local bodies.

Reaction from Opposition

The Congress and JJP strongly condemned Vij's statement. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said, 'Such language reflects the BJP's frustration and arrogance. Instead of focusing on development, they resort to mudslinging.' JJP leader Digvijay Chautala added, 'Comparing a political coalition to an insect is beneath the dignity of a minister. The BJP should apologize.'

Political Context

The CJP coalition was formed ahead of the Haryana local body elections, with the Congress and JJP joining forces to counter the BJP. The BJP has been critical of the alliance, accusing it of being opportunistic. Vij's comment is seen as part of the BJP's strategy to discredit the coalition before upcoming elections.

Previous Controversies

This is not the first time Vij has made headlines for his remarks. He has previously made controversial statements on issues ranging from COVID-19 to caste politics. Critics say his comments often cross the line of political decency.

The JJP, which broke away from the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), has been trying to establish itself as a third force in Haryana politics. Its alliance with the Congress has raised eyebrows, given the historical rivalry between the two parties.

As the political battle heats up, Vij's remark has added fuel to the fire, with both sides exchanging barbs. The BJP is hoping to retain power in the state, while the Congress-JJP alliance aims to unseat it.
