Heavy Rain Forecast for Over 15 Districts in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Heavy rain is anticipated across more than 15 districts in Tamil Nadu following the conclusion of the peak summer spell, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday. The peak phase of summer, locally known as 'Agni Natchathiram', spanned from May 4 to 28. With its end, weather conditions across the state are expected to undergo a significant shift.

IMD Forecast

A latest bulletin from the IMD indicated that heatwave conditions persisted until Thursday, with temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius in more than 10 districts, including Chennai. The weather agency has now forecast heavy rainfall in several districts over the next 24 hours starting Friday. These districts include Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni, Nilgiris, Karur, Erode, Namakkal, Tirupattur, Tiruppur, Salem, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri.

Temperature Drop Expected

The IMD also indicated a gradual fall in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal starting from May 31. This change is attributed to the conclusion of the intense summer period.
