Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sandeep Patil has called on the public and authorities to join hands in creating a drug-free society. Speaking at an event in Gadag, Patil emphasized the need for collective action to combat the rising threat of narcotics.
Gadag Police Crack Down on Narcotics
Over the past year, the Gadag police have registered 27 cases related to narcotics offenses and arrested 52 accused individuals, according to IGP Patil. He highlighted these figures as evidence of ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse in the region.
Patil urged community leaders, parents, and educational institutions to play an active role in spreading awareness about the dangers of drug use. He also called for stricter enforcement of laws to deter traffickers.
Call for Collaborative Action
“Building a drug-free society requires the cooperation of every citizen,” Patil said. He stressed that police alone cannot solve the problem and that a united front is essential. The IGP also praised the Gadag police for their vigilance and urged other districts to follow suit.
The event was attended by local officials and members of the public, who pledged their support for the initiative. Patil’s remarks come amid growing concerns over drug abuse in Karnataka, particularly among youth.
