India has successfully demonstrated its Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) capability to intercept and destroy hostile ballistic missiles, the defence ministry announced. Three consecutive flight-tests were conducted on June 10 and 11 to validate the multi-layered BMD system against incoming threats.
Successful Flight Tests
The tests were carried out by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to showcase India's indigenous air defence capabilities. The system is designed to detect, track, and neutralise enemy ballistic missiles at various altitudes.
Multi-Layered Defence
The BMD system consists of two tiers: the Prithvi Air Defence (PAD) for high-altitude interception and the Advanced Air Defence (AAD) for lower altitudes. This layered approach ensures comprehensive protection against missile attacks.
The successful trials mark a significant milestone in India's strategic defence programs, enhancing national security against potential ballistic missile threats from hostile neighbours.
