Indore Gets Respite as Early Morning Rain Brings Down Temperatures
Indore Rain Brings Relief, Mercury Drops Significantly

Indore: A spell of early morning rain brought welcome relief from the heat and humidity in Indore on Sunday, turning the weather pleasant after several uncomfortable days. The city recorded 29.1 mm of rainfall between 5:15 am and 7:15 am, accompanied by gusty winds of nearly 50 kmph and a significant fall in temperatures.

Impact on Temperatures

Met officials said the pre-monsoon showers lasted for around two hours and were accompanied by thunder and lightning. It had an immediate impact on the mercury. The minimum temperature witnessed a sharper decline, dropping to 19.5 degrees Celsius, which was five degrees below normal and 7.1 degrees lower than the previous night's reading. The maximum temperature also dropped to 36.3 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. For the last four days, night temperature had remained above 26 degrees Celsius, contributing to oppressive humidity and discomfort.

Power Outages and Humidity Comeback

Power outages were also reported from several parts of the city during the rain. The Met department attributed the rain to moisture incursion from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, which has triggered pre-monsoon activity over the region. Although the rain and cool winds provided respite during the morning hours, humidity made a comeback later in the day after the skies cleared and sunshine returned.
