Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha terminates five government employees over terror links
In a decisive move, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered the termination of five government staffers on Tuesday. The action targets individuals with alleged connections to terror outfits and Pakistan-based commanders working with the ISI.
Employees dismissed under constitutional provision
The dismissals proceed under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution. This provision allows for termination without a formal inquiry in the interest of state security. The government cited compelling evidence of the employees' involvement with terrorist activities.
Details of the terminated staffers and their alleged roles
Laboratory technician Tariq Ahmad Rah and forest field worker Farooq Ahmad Bhat face serious charges. Authorities accuse them of providing logistical support to Hizbul Mujahideen divisional commander Mohammad Amin Baba back in 2005.
Another dismissed employee is teacher Mohd Ishfaq. Police arrested him in 2022 before he could execute a Lashkar-e-Taiba plot. The plan involved killing a police officer.
Driver Mohd Yousf also lost his job. On the direction of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Bashir Ahmad Bhat, he was procuring arms for the group.
The fifth employee is assistant lineman Bashir Ahmad Mir. He stands accused of providing shelter to two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in 2021.
Government's stance on security and zero tolerance
The Jammu and Kashmir administration demonstrates a firm stance against terrorism. By sacking these employees, the government sends a clear message. It will not tolerate any support for terror activities within its ranks.
This action aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen security in the region. The administration remains vigilant against threats from across the border.
