Bhopal: Justice Vivek Rusia, the administrative judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the high court. The Ministry of Law and Justice issued a notification to this effect on Monday.

Justice Rusia will assume the charge following the elevation of Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva to the Supreme Court, which will leave the post of Chief Justice of the MP High Court vacant. Born on August 2, 1969, Justice Rusia enrolled as an advocate with the Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council on August 8, 1992. He was elevated as an additional judge of the MP High Court on April 7, 2016, and was appointed a permanent judge on March 17, 2018.

This appointment comes at a crucial time for the judiciary in Madhya Pradesh. Justice Rusia brings with him extensive experience as a judge, having served in various capacities over the years. His elevation to the acting Chief Justice role is seen as a recognition of his legal acumen and administrative capabilities. The legal fraternity in Bhopal and across the state has welcomed this development, expressing confidence in his leadership. The transition is expected to be smooth, with Justice Rusia set to take over the responsibilities immediately after Justice Sachdeva's departure to the Supreme Court.
