Kanpur MP Ramesh Awasthi conducted a comprehensive inspection of Adani Defence and Aerospace's state-of-the-art defence manufacturing facility in the city on Thursday. The visit included a thorough examination of the entire site, where the MP gathered detailed insights into production processes, technical infrastructure, safety protocols, and advanced manufacturing systems.
Largest Private Defence Complex in South Asia
This facility stands as the largest private ammunition and missile component manufacturing complex in South Asia, playing a crucial role in India's ambitious goal of achieving self-reliance in the defence sector. During his tour, MP Awasthi hailed the unit as a landmark achievement for the nation's defence industrial capabilities, emphasizing its strategic importance.
Praise for Leadership and National Pride
Ramesh Awasthi attributed this progress to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, noting that India has advanced rapidly towards self-sufficiency in defence under his guidance. He expressed pride that a world-class defence manufacturing facility has been established in an industrial hub like Kanpur, benefiting both Uttar Pradesh and the entire country.
The MP revealed that Adani Defence and Aerospace constructed this massive unit over 180 months, with it now being fully operational. He described this as a significant accomplishment, highlighting that the facility aims to fulfil approximately 25 percent of India's defence needs. Additionally, it will supply advanced weapons and ammunition to friendly nations, strengthening international partnerships.

During the inspection, MP Awasthi examined a sniper rifle famously used in the Uri surgical strike. He assessed its weight by holding it and remarked on its lightness while aiming, showcasing the practical advancements in weapon design.

Ashok Wadhawan, Joint President of Adani Defence, explained that the company develops AI-based modern weapons that are not only lighter but also more robust. He noted that lighter weapons reduce back pressure during firing, making them easier for soldiers to handle and significantly reducing fatigue, thereby improving operational efficiency.
To conclude his visit, MP Awasthi visited the shooting range, where he fired five consecutive shots with a carbine, demonstrating firsthand the capabilities of the equipment produced at the facility.
