Kanpur Women Rally in Support of Historic Women's Empowerment Legislation
In a significant show of solidarity ahead of the introduction of the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam' (Women's Empowerment Bill) in the Lok Sabha, Kanpur witnessed a powerful display of women's activism on Wednesday. Mayor Pramila Pandey spearheaded a vibrant vehicle rally that commenced from the Municipal Corporation Guest House and concluded at Maharishi Valmiki Upvan, drawing enthusiastic participation from women across the city.
Mayor Pandey Hails Modi Government's Progressive Initiative
Addressing the gathered women, Mayor Pramila Pandey emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently prioritized women's interests through decisive policy actions. "The Prime Minister is not merely granting rights but fundamentally empowering women through visionary governance," she declared. Pandey characterized the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as "the most transformative legislative decision of this century," noting that it would substantially enhance representation for half the population within legislative bodies.
The rally saw substantial attendance from prominent local leaders including BJP district president Anil Dixit, corporators group leader Naveen Pandit, corporators Vidya Vandana, Gunjan Sharma, and Aarti Gautam, along with women's wing district president Anita Tripathi.
University Students Launch Comprehensive Awareness Campaign
Simultaneously, students at Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University organized an extensive awareness drive focused on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam 2023. Their multifaceted campaign included:

- Slogan campaigns promoting women's empowerment themes

The program, conducted under the "Abhiyan" campaign framework, featured Dean of Students Welfare Anshu Yadav as chief guest and was coordinated by Associate DSW and NSS Atal Unit Programme Officer Mamta Tiwari.
Self-Defense Training and Symbolic March Conclude Events
The awareness day also marked the conclusion of "Astra," a specialized self-defense training initiative. A judo-karate demonstration team led by instructor Vijay showcased practical self-defense techniques that garnered enthusiastic audience appreciation.
In her address, DSW Anshu Yadav highlighted women's expanding societal roles while emphasizing the critical importance of self-reliance and personal safety. Program officer Mamta Tiwari reinforced these messages, stressing how legislative empowerment complements practical skill development.
The university events culminated with students forming a human chain themed around 'Nari Shakti Vandan' and marching toward the main gate while chanting empowerment slogans that resonated throughout the campus.
