Kottayam: A planned move is underway to destroy the state's higher education sector, alleged Kerala Students Union (KSU) state president Aloysius Xavier. He made the remarks while inaugurating a protest march at MG University headquarters on Tuesday against the alleged saffronisation of the university administration.
Allegations of Collusion
Xavier claimed that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Bharatiya Janata Party colluded in the senate appointments to put the government in a difficult position. He stated that the Sangh Parivar and the CPM shared the senate member positions among themselves. The existing Left syndicate and current registrar Bismi Gopalakrishnan, who previously headed a left teachers' organisation at the School of Legal Thought, abetted this move, according to Xavier. He expressed suspicion over the silence of the syndicate and the registrar on the matter.
Left Functionaries Paving Way for Sangh Parivar
Xavier further alleged that Left service organisation functionaries are paving the way for the Sangh Parivar in the university as never before. He cited an incident where BJP functionaries visited the university and draped the Vice Chancellor with a shawl, calling it disgraceful. He also accused the VC of making politics the sole criterion while appointing subject expert teachers.
Xavier announced that in the coming days, there would be strong agitation against the actions of the Governor, whom he accused of saffronising and destroying Kerala's higher education sector.
