Ladakh LG Presents 100-Day Achievements
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Retd) B.D. Mishra released a detailed 100-day report card on July 12, 2026, outlining the administration's key accomplishments since assuming office. The report emphasizes a strong push for water security, green development, and infrastructure improvements across the union territory.
Water Security Initiatives
One of the flagship projects is the desilting of key lakes to enhance water storage capacity. The administration has completed desilting of 12 lakes, increasing their combined capacity by 15%. Additionally, 30 new water harvesting structures have been constructed in rural areas to combat water scarcity. According to an official statement, these measures aim to ensure year-round water availability for agriculture and drinking purposes.
Green Development and Renewable Energy
The LG's report highlights the installation of 50 MW of solar power capacity across Ladakh, with a target to reach 200 MW by 2027. A new solar park in Leh district has been commissioned, generating 20 MW. The administration also distributed 10,000 solar lanterns to households in remote villages. “Our focus is on making Ladakh a carbon-neutral region by 2030,” the report stated.
Infrastructure and Connectivity
In infrastructure, the administration completed 200 km of new roads and upgraded 150 km of existing ones. The Kargil-Zanskar road project has been fast-tracked, with 40 km of blacktopping done in the last 100 days. Mobile connectivity has been expanded to 25 additional villages, bridging the digital divide.
Health and Education
Under health, two new primary health centers were inaugurated in remote areas, and telemedicine services were launched in 50 villages. In education, 15 new smart classrooms were set up in government schools, and a scholarship scheme for 500 students was introduced.
Tourism and Economy
The report also notes a 20% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, attributed to improved infrastructure and promotional campaigns. The administration has identified 10 new eco-tourism sites to boost sustainable tourism.
LG Mishra said, “Our 100-day report card reflects our commitment to transparent governance and rapid development. We have laid a strong foundation for Ladakh's future.” The opposition, however, criticized the report for lacking details on job creation and social welfare schemes.
