In a heartbreaking incident in Lucknow, an 18-year-old youth's aspiration to gain fame on social media through video reels culminated in a tragic death. The accident occurred while he was filming a video inside his home in the Madiaon area, according to police reports released on Wednesday.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Mohammad Zakir, the deceased, had secluded himself in a room of his residence on April 5 to record a video that allegedly depicted a hanging scene. During the filming process, he lost his balance, causing the noose to tighten around his neck. This accidental tightening led to the fatal outcome.
Family members provided further context to the authorities. Zakir's mother, Shehnaz Bano, was occupied with cooking in another section of the house, while other family members had left for work. After not hearing from her son for an extended period, she knocked on the door of the room. When there was no response, she immediately alerted neighbors for assistance.
Emergency Response and Medical Efforts
The door was forcibly opened, and Zakir was discovered hanging unconscious. He was promptly brought down and rushed to Balrampur Hospital in a critical condition. Doctors admitted him to the emergency ward, where he received intensive medical care for three days. Despite these efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination to determine the precise cause of death. A senior police officer disclosed that Zakir's mobile phone was recovered from the room, and his last reel was found on the device. The phone has been forwarded to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) for detailed analysis.
Background of the Deceased
Zakir hailed from a modest family background. His father, Mohammad Rafiq, is engaged in the scrap business. Zakir had discontinued his education after completing Class 8 and was the third child among four siblings. Investigators also uncovered that he was an active social media user, maintaining an Instagram account with approximately 1,700 followers.
